The story
The Founders
Pavia was founded by Dries and Annelies. They design and make objects for shared space, where people and animals live together, intended to remain relevant beyond trends. Each piece takes form through close attention to use, refined through dialogue until only what lasts remains.
To make something well is to believe it will last.
The origin
Dries grew up with wood. His father was a cabinet maker who later started a tree nursery named Pavia, where respect for nature and material came first. Learning to observe wood as something living shaped his approach to making from an early age.
The spark
With the arrival of sighthound puppy Charlie, long-held interests converged. A simple question emerged: why should objects that share daily space lack intention, comfort, or elegance? Pavia began there, continuing a name rooted in care for nature and time.
The balance
Pavia's objects are developed through dialogue. Between intuition and testing, refinement and reduction, guided by the exchange between making and sensing. Each design is reduced until only what matters remains.
